ABOUT US - HISTORY
In February 1989, after the late Rev R.V. Selvanayagam completed his
4-year theological studies in Hawaii, the Lord burdened him to return to his homeland, Singapore, to start Lighthouse Baptist Church. He and his wife, Mary Sim, were then commissioned and sent out by Lanakila Baptist Church in Waipahu, Hawaii.
Through God’s divine guidance, another work was started in, Johore, West Malaysia, in 1990. It first started as regular bible studies conducted by Pastor Selva and his wife every Sunday afternoon. Today Lifegate Baptist Church is an independent organisation under the leadership of Pastor Eric Choy.
Lighthouse Baptist Church also started a Filipino ministry in 2008.
Today Asian Grace Baptist Church exists under the leadership of
Pastor Napoleon Cajipe.
Pastor Selva was called home to be with the Lord in July 2014.

It is our God-given mission to take the name of our Saviour to every person. God’s mission is our mission.
The Great Commission has thus become Lighthouse Baptist Church’s vision and mission.(Matthew 28:19,20)
We thank God for the number of missionaries we are able to support around the world.
We need always to pray for them, support and encourage missionaries who are out there to evangelise the unreached people. (Matthew 9:37,38). We serve to advance the Great Commission.
OUR BELIEFS: ARTICLES OF FAITH
A. THE HOLY BIBLE
We believe that the Holy Bible (the sixty-six books from Genesis to Revelation) was written by men supernaturally inspired; that it has truth without any admixture of errors for its matter; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man; the true centre of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.
(Matt 5:18; I Cor 13:8-10; II Tim 3:16,17; II Peter 1:20,21)
We believe that God preserved His Word in the Traditional Masoretic and Traditional Greek Text (The Textus Receptus) and we hold the King James Version which is based on these texts as the best English translation
of the Bible.
B. THE TRUE GOD
We believe that there is only one true and living God; the Creator of the Universe and mankind; Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient and eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
(Gen 1:1; Isa 9:6; 43:10; Acts 5:3,4; I Tim 1:17)
C. JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit in a miraculous manner; born of Mary, a virgin,
and that He is both the Son of God and God, the Father. (Gen 3:15; Isa 7:14; Matt 1:18-25; John 10:30; 20:28)
D. THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine Person; equal with God the Father and God the Son and is of the same nature. (John 14:16,17,26; Acts 5:3,4)
We believe that Satan was once holy, and enjoyed heavenly honours; but through pride and ambition to be like the Almighty, fell and drew after him a host of angels; that he is now the malignant prince of the power of the air, the unholy god of this world, and is destined to be cast into the lake of fire. (Isa 14:12-15; Eze 28:14-17; Rev 20:10)
F. THE CREATION
We believe in the literal account of creation as stated in the book of Genesis and repudiate the theory of evolution.
(Gen 1,2; John 1:3; Col 1:16,17)
G. MAN AND SIN
We believe that man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker, but by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy state, in consequence of which all men are now sinners, not by compulsion, but by choice; and therefore under condemnation without defence or excuse. (Gen 3:1-6; Rom 3:10-18,23; 5:12)
We believe that sinners are saved by grace through faith in the redeeming work of our Lord Jesus Christ and not by any good works which we have done. (Rom 3:20-22; 4:1-8; Gal 5:4; Eph 2:8,9)
I. THE CHURCH
We believe that a church is a local, visible, independent, autonomous, covenanted body of baptised believers with definite organisation, ordained by Christ to fulfil the Great Commission.
(Matt 16:18; 18:17,18; 28:18-20; Acts 2:41,47; I Cor 12:27)
J. BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S SUPPER
We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, with the authority of the local church to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Saviour Jesus Christ, portraying our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; and that it is a pre-requisite to the privileges of church membership and the Lord's supper. (Acts 2:41, 42; 16: 30-33)
We believe that in the Lord's Supper the members and only members of the local church by the sacred use of bread and the cup containing the fruit of the vine are to commemorate together the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for us, and preceded always by solemn self-examination. (I Cor 11:23-30)
K. THE SECURITY AND PERSERVERANCE OF THE SAINTS
We believe that all who are truly born again are eternally secure since they have been sealed by the Holy Spirit, and are kept by the power of God unto salvation; that such only are true believers as endure unto the end; that their persevering attachment to Christ is the grand mark which distinguishes them from superficial professors.
(John 8:31; 10:27-29; Phil 1:6; Col 1:21,22; I Pet 1:5)
L. THE GRACE OF GIVING
We believe that scriptural giving is one of the fundamentals of the faith and that believers are commanded to bring their tithes into the storehouse (common treasury of the church) on the first day of the week. We give with love under grace and not under the Old Testament Law. (Mal 3:10; Matt 23:23; I Cor 16:1,2; II Cor 8:1-15; Heb 7:2,9,10)
M. THE ABSOLUTE SEPARATION OF THE CHURCH AND STATE
We believe that the church and the State are two different institutions ordained by God for different purposes and as such they should remain separate during this present world. (Matt 22:15-21)
N. CIVIL GOVERNMENT
We believe that civil government is of divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society, that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honoured and obeyed; except only in the things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the only Lord of the conscience. (Rom 13:7; Phil 2:10,11; I Pet 2:13,14)
O. THE GIFT OF TONGUES
We believe that the divine gift of tongues which was used primarily as a sign to the unbelieving Jews and secondarily for edification in the church in the absence of the complete Scriptures, was terminated and never to reappear when its uses were over as can be seen in the scattering of the nation of Israel in AD 70 and in the completion of the Canon. (I Cor 1:22; 13:8-10; 14:20-22,26,27)
